“In the providence of God, governments were intended to be the servants, not the masters of the people. This eternal truth needs to be emphasized and re-emphasized.” Elder Ezra Taft Benson

Candy-Flavored Meth being Given to Middle Schoolers

(Click title if you want to read original article on cbsnews.com)

(Another reason to keep your kids out of public schools.)

Druggies are now adding a children's strawberry drink mix to methamphetamine in attempt to take the "edge" and strong chemical taste away and to lure in a younger market.

Police have also seen it mixed with a variety of candy, cola, and chocolate flavors.

Warn your kids not to accept any candy from strangers or even friends who might not know what it really is!

9 BIG STORIES THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA MISSED IN 2009

WOW - have you read this from Fox News' website?! If you want to read it there, click here. These are six of the nine stories. BY the way, most of these were reported by Rush Limbaugh and other conservative websites WHEN they happened...

All of these stories reflect on Obama. Yep, our supposed "protector" of the Constitution.

Van Jones

White House Green Jobs adviser Van Jones resigned from his post in September after weeks of pressure over his radical past. A former self-avowed Marxist and anarchist, Jones signed a 2004 petition that suggested the U.S. government was involved in the Sept 11. terrorist attacks. The New York Times and Washington Post ignored the story until Jones' resignation, which occurred in the middle of the Labor Day weekend.
So Obama put a former self-avowed Marxist and anarchist as one of his ADVISERS? Just so you know, the reason why America became great was because of CAPITALISM - not Marxism, Communism, or Socialism. THOSE have proven to RUIN countries and civilizations in the past. SMALL government and LIMITED government-involvement is key. It's been proven in history all the way back to scriptural times.

ACORN Tapes

Filmmakers James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles, posing as a pimp and a prostitute, went undercover to the offices of the community organizing group ACORN in the summer. They secretly videotaped employees instructing them in how to falsify tax forms and seek illegal benefits for 13 "very young" girls from El Salvador whom the pair said they wanted to import to work as child prostitutes. New videos emerged daily, but the mainstream media ignored the growing scandal for days, even as federal agencies began severing their ties with the group and members of Congress cried for an investigation.
Okay, do you get this?? A guy and a girl pretended to be a pimp and a prostitute and went in to ACORN asking for ILLEGAL things and these women from ACORN were helping them! These two women employees told them how to get a low interest, government subsidized mortgage for a whorehouse. Watch the video of what these crazy ACORN women were saying here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtTnizEnC1U . If you go to ACORN's website, acorn.org, it's totally phony (like many others, for example, Monsanto) and wants you to make $$ contributions because they help "ordinary people change their lives."
Obama is very close to ACORN and has been over the years. He used to train ACORN employees in the eighties! He told them, "We're going to be involved in every one of you putting together the agenda for the next president of the united states." He funded them during his campaign and in office - why? Because ACORN commits vote fraud therefore these loony democrats can get reelected into office. To defund ACORN was to defund Obama.

Science Czar John Holdren

President Obama's "science czar," John Holdren, floated a number of lethal policies to shrink the human population -- including compulsory abortions and other Draconian measures -- in science textbooks he published in the 1970s. Though the news spread widely through the blogosphere, the mainstream media never touched the controversy. Click here to see a slideshow of the radical ideas he proposed.
Two things: POPULATION CONTROL and SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS. Do you think the govt. hasn't done things secretly to try and control the population? Oh... for example, putting flouride in public water saying "it's good for our teeth"... guess what the number one ingredient in rat poison is? FLOURIDE. Or possibly putting out "safe" and "good" vaccines that harm women's reproductive systems? Why do you think so many women can't get pregnant now days? And regarding school books... have you ever once asked, "Who publishes my children's schoolbooks? Who wrote them? Who FUNDED them?"

Climate-Gate

Hackers broke into the servers at a prominent British climate research center and leaked years' worth of e-mails onto the Web, producing what some skeptics of man-made climate change said was "smoking gun" evidence of collusion among climate scientists. One e-mail referenced a plan to "hide the decline" in global temperatures, as another lamented the "travesty" that temperatures had not increased over the past decade. Prominent climate scientists discussed blackballing skeptics and admitted to dumping data to avoid public scrutiny. The head of the Climatic Research Unit at Britain's East Anglia University stepped down amid the uproar that followed. But the television networks ignored the story for so long they even got scooped by Comedy Central.
All you Global Warming believers probably really don't like this story, huh?

Tea Party Protests

In the wake of the bank bailouts and the federal stimulus package, some critics of the Obama administration's economic crisis plans urged citizens to mail tea bags to their congressmen as a form of protest, recalling the Boston Tea Party and unjust taxes imposed by the British before the American Revolution. The Tea Party movement grew to include massive protests, as tens of thousands of Americans joined in on Tax Day. After utterly ignoring the movement for weeks, the mainstream media finally caught up to the story, but mostly used their coverage as an occasion for sexual puns and frathouse humor.
The news hardly gave any coverage at all to these Tea Parties when there were TONS of them happening all over the U.S. Why do you think that is? If the news is supposedly for the people, why wouldn't they show these major revolts against the Obama and his administration? Use your brain.

Kevin Jennings, Safe Schools Czar

President Obama's "safe schools czar," Kevin Jennings, is a former schoolteacher who advocated promoting homosexuality in schools and was forced to admit he hadpoorly handled an incident in which a student told him he was having sex with older men. Jennings has since been tied to a pornographic suggested reading list for 7th graders that was designed by the organization he founded and directed for over a decade, and dozens of members of Congress have called for his ouster.
UGH - doesn't this guy just LOOK scary?! Once again... Obama appointed this man to be one of his advisers, or dumb "czars". Do you not think this reflects on Obama? Obama doesn't do things on accident... except for reading the wrong speeches sometimes... but then again that's the teleprompter's fault.

The Worth of Women

Wow. I find it so sad how SHALLOW, disrespectful, and degrading 'the world' is to women! They are just as much to men too, but for now I'm focused on women.

I just went to the FoxNews.com website and towards the bottom of the page is all the wonderful celebrity gossip. Why is it there? Because it attracts people, sadly. Anyway, I clicked "More Stars Without Makeup" which shows before and after pictures of different female "stars". I am disgusted.

The women with the "worst"-looking before pictures were mocked and picked apart for not looking "glam". I mean GOODNESS GRACIOUS! The entire thing was SOLELY about their looks - whoever was the one writing the short comments was determining these women's entire worth by whether they looked good wearing makeup or not. I actually feel dumber after looking at all 66 pictures... Yes, I admit I looked at each picture!

Now, I'm a huge fan of makeup... I purposely only like to get the camera out if I've put makeup on. I don't like being without makeup, I am THANKFUL for makeup. I believe just about every woman alive can benefit by at least a little bit of it. But GOODNESS gracious, I don't determine my entire worth, self-esteem, potential, and success by it!

This series of four videos called Killing Us Softly is a must-watch for women. It was shown to my entire sociology class in college and it's extremely eye-opening. We're all well aware how women are targeted and portrayed as sex objects, but it's SOOOOO much more than that that we don't even realize.

Disclaimer: I don't recommend men or children watch this as there are some inappropriate pictures of women (women shouldn't either... if you really don't want to, turn off your screen while listening to what she says).

THE WORTH OF WOMEN

Because mothers are essential to God's great plan of happiness, their sacred work is opposed by Satan, who would destroy the family and demean the worth of women. - Elder Russell M. Nelson

Woman is God’s supreme creation. Only after the earth had been formed, after the day had been separated from the night, after the waters had been divided from the land, after vegetation and animal life had been created, and after man had been placed on the earth, was woman created; and only then was the work pronounced complete and good.
Of all the creations of the Almighty, there is none more beautiful, none more inspiring than a lovely daughter of God who walks in virtue with an understanding of why she should do so, who honors and respects her body as a thing sacred and divine, who cultivates her mind and constantly enlarges the horizon of her understanding, who nurtures her spirit with everlasting truth. - President Gordon B. Hinckley in “Our Responsibility to Our Young Women,” Ensign, Sept. 1988, 11.

Let's Talk Education - Be Prepared for Unpopular Information

I have been observing different forms of education a lot and doing research over the last few years. I'll tell you my own experiences:

At age 6, my mom wanted me to be home schooled but my dad insisted that his children would not be 'weirdos' and enrolled me in the local public school. We lived in a tiny town. Almost all (if not ALL) the school teachers and school faculty were LDS (strong Christians). Everybody knew everybody. My dad was the seminary teacher for the high school which was on the same campus I attended. You could see the playground from our neighbor's backyard. Basically, it was the ideal situation.

So I started first grade and enjoyed it. Shortly after attending school, my parents say I developed an attitude and that I didn't want to be around my family and little sisters as much anymore, but that I wanted to be around my friends. My dad visited our classroom which had pictures of the students' heros on the wall and half of them were scripture characters. The teacher and all the kids were LDS. But what he witnessed on the playground was appalling.

There is a "pecking order" that exists in public schools and he said the kids were so mean and cruel to each other, or to the weaker or less popular kids. So they pulled me out, home schooled me, and said within a few days I was back to my normal self and the attitude was gone (not that I never got in trouble, haha... I received my fair share of spankings).

So, WHY my change in behavior in the "PERFECT" and "ideal" school situation where my parents closely knew the teachers and faculty? Where it was an "innocent" small-town environment? Where nearly every single person was an active Christian with high morals?

BECAUSE OF THE SYSTEM.

NOTE: I believe many teachers are wonderful, intelligent, kind, caring and WONDERFUL people who genuinely want to make a difference and do good. I believe parents feel they are doing what's best for their children, and in very few cases, public school IS what's best for some children from abusive homes, sadly. But the SYSTEM is corrupt. The people at the top of the system are corrupt.

Let's take a quick look at Horace Mann or more so John Dewey, who furthered Mann's philosophy and is considered "The Father of Education". His basic belief was to create the "commonchild" which means to separate or remove a child from his/her God and family. I don't want my children to be stripped of their values.

This was a comment on an American Thinker article:

"Government (public) education is unconstitutional. It DEMANDS that a citizen buy education services they may or may not ever use and must pay for all of thier lives whether they have children or not and whether or not they ageree with the schools philosophy and moral structure. By its socialist nature it must cater to the lowest commmon denominator and is by definition inferior to self selected education. If you want to see what happens when anything is made public just visit your nearest public restroom." - (Haha! I love the last sentence! So funny and so true...)

I've always felt that the way schools test your intelligence is totally askew (for lack of a better word)... I mean there are SO many different children with completely different ways of learning, remembering, applying information, etc. To take a standardized test and then judge a person's entire intelligence and academic capabilities is so inaccurate and limiting!

I didn't get the best grades in high school (yes, I was home schooled but I went to public high school all four years) and was therefore labeled as an "average" student who would "somewhat" go on and do well in the world. Because one student had a letter "A" on their transcript, they were viewed in a completely different light than me who had A's, B's, and a couple C's (heaven forbid). However, I don't feel like I'm any less special or "dumber" than the person with lots of letter A's...

MY POINT is that I don't feel public schools truly allow children to find their passion and then feed and nurture a desire to learn.

One interesting point that Brittany, my younger sister, brought up several months ago is that in school, the government doesn't want you to ask questions. THINK ABOUT IT - they GIVE you the questions they want asked and then give you the answers. They don't WANT you to ask questions and then go seek the answers yourself - they don't want people asking questions. They don't want people questioning anything. They want us to go with their flow and not ask questions.

According to some studies and observations, generally speaking, public schools (compared to Thomas Jefferson education who has studied this and developed an opposite-effect learning system) kill one's desire to learn. How many kids do you know (other than brand new kindergartners or first-graders) wake up every day just REARIN' and excited to go sit through every single class they have and be academically stimulated?

About a year ago, I tutored 5 and 6-year-olds when we lived in Utah. The 5-year-olds (kindergartners) were still very sweet and innocent... but the 6-year-olds, the first-graders, were already affected by the pecking order and "survival of the fittest" theme that poisons the kids. They picked on sweet little Michelle who was quiet and shy and called her stupid and dumb just because she portrayed "weakness" to them. Michelle, of course, withdrew and became even MORE shy. The first-graders would do everything they could for attention and would bully the kids who weren't as loud or mis-behaving as they were.

OF COURSE their family situations take part in that: Are they disciplined at home? Do they have loving parents? Do they eat a lot of junk which causes worse behavior and hyperactivity? Even on the playground I noticed all the older kids as well. The fourth-grade boys were vulgar, crude, and even worse bullies. Kids do better when they are able to stay close to their moms and families who LOVE them, longer than four or five years.

The NEA - National Education Association - funds and supports groups like the GLSEN - Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.

DID YOU KNOW that in 1878, President John Taylor warned the people about sending their children to public schools? He did; but that counsel was generally ignored... I wonder why? Read what he said here.

These are just a FEW of my many thoughts, findings, and opinions on Public Education: Government-controlled institutions producing what they want: blind sheep.

Our Amazing National Anthem

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,

Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,

What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,

In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:

'Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore

That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion

A home and a country should leave us no more?

Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave

From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,

Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;

Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land

Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,

And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I've sung this (just the first verse) to my sweet baby before while putting him to sleep and it gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. To think of the sacrifice so many valiant men and women made to defend liberty, freedom, and a land given us by God is truly humbling. I'm so thankful to them. I need to remember them and our gracious, loving Father in Heaven more.
